The final, hosted by the leader of Southampton City Council, Cllr Richard Williams, pitched nine speakers against each other at the hub theatre in Southampton on Thursday 27 September.
Rich Watts won with a presentation titled, The Morale Margin. He was placed first by a jury of three experts, Dr Max Atkinson, author of Lend Me Your Ears, entrepreneur, Lara Morgan and brand expert, Ross Thornley, from RT Media.
The runner-up prize of £1000 was won by Jeremy Nicholas, who did a humorous presentation,How to Attract Free Publicity.
David Thompson from Total Awareness Coaching won the £500 for third position, with his speech titled, The Greatest Leaders who Never Lived.
‘Thanks to the generosity of PEER 1 Hosting who put up the money for prizes, we have now run this competition for a second year. They’re doing a fine job encouraging the great public speakers of the future.’ said Brian Jenner, who organises the competition for the UK Speechwriters’ Guild.
